Are you a high school or college student looking for summer work?  If so, we'd like to talk to you about our hands-on opportunity to explore a career in livestock production.  

Company Background:

The Hord family is in its 5th generation of family farming, with over 100 years of farming heritage. Headquartered in North Central Ohio and having satellite locations in Pennsylvania and Minnesota, Hord Farms is a pig, cow, and grain farm, striving to raise our animals with care, and utilizing modern and advanced farming practices to be efficient and sustainable. We are currently looking for students age 16+ to add to our Ohio pig farm team for the summer.  Agricultural experience is preferred, but this position offers full training. 

Job Details:

This key, entry-level position is responsible for the daily care, health, and maintenance of all sows and piglets to assure optimum productivity.  Work is M-F + every 3rd weekend, indoors in a climate-controlled environment.  The ideal candidate will have the desire to work with pigs, a willingness to learn, a high level of dependability as evidenced with a solid work history, and a proven record of drive for excellence.

Qualifications:

  • Candidates must not currently own or have routine contact with swine.
  • Desire and ability to work in a physically strenuous environment
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Impeccable record of reliability/dependability 
  • Display a high level of respect to team members and animals
  • Willingness to learn and carry out complex instructions effectively
